Over time I have realized that social media is still a social centre and people come there primarily to socialize and never to buy anything. Social media users are usually on a defensive when they see ads trying to sell to them. My advise to my students usually is that you use social media as a lead generation tool, never sell directly rather offer a lead magnet.
